CVC-OEI and GCC!

The California Virtual Campus-Online Education Initiative (CVC-OEI) is a collaborative effort among California Community Colleges (CCCs) to ensure that significantly more students are able to complete their educational goals by increasing both access to and success in high-quality online courses.

The CVC Exchange is a place where students can search for courses they may need to complete their GE, a diploma, certificate, or degree, and which may not be available at their home college.

Glendale Community College will soon (Winter 2023) be a Teaching College on the CVC Exchange. This means that when students throughout the state discover Distance Ed. courses that are offered through GCC, they will be able to cross-enroll instantly, without having first to enroll in GCC. (However, GCC still received the apportionment and the credit for the course).

What is the OEI (now CVC-OEI)?

The California Virtual Campus - Online Education Initiative (OEI) is a grant-funded collaboration between the California Community Colleges (CCCs), which is dedicated to increasing student success and access to high-quality online courses. Though this multi-year initiative has many parts, a central component of the grant is professional development for faculty and staff.

As of July 2017, @ONE was repositioned under OEI to combine professional development resources.

The CVC-OEI Course Design Rubric is currently being used to review courses being taught in connection with the CCC Online Course Exchange. We recommend that you review the rubric when designing your course. Consider applying for a Peer Online Course Review stipend to align one of your courses. It will then appear on the CVC-OEI Exchange and rise to the top of student searches. Similarly, if your course is a Zero Textbook Cost (ZTC) course using Open Educational Resources (OER), it will rise to the top of student searches.
