QUIZZES
You will have several quizzes based on the readings, and class materials. Quizzes are 25 points
DISCUSSIONS
Every other week you will have a “Discussion” to fulfill. This is a tool within CANVAS that allows you to express your thoughts and opinions in an open forum, sharing your astute observations with your fellow classmates. For every discussion, be prepared to write 2 paragraphs of your own making (paragraphs are 5-8 sentences) and respond (reply) to at least two of your classmates’ observations. The initial post is worth 20 points and your responses garner you an added 5 points. Please scroll through your classmates’ posts to choose a classmate who either hasn’t had a response yet or has the least responses. Thank you.
HOMEWORK
With an ONLINE course, all work is homework. There will ALWAYS be READING to do in order to accomplish the quizzes, discussions and writing assignments. Please keep abreast of the deadlines for assignments. I will accept late work, but there will be a reduction in points because of it. Essays consist of creating, editing, and uploading personalized 750+ word essays- with an introduction, at least two body paragraphs and a conclusion- using MLA formatting.
THE FINAL: The final will be an essay with a time limit. You will have access to the prompt on that day and you will need to upload your work before a certain time.
NOTE: If you decide to drop the class, it is your responsibility to notify the Admissions and Records office. If you don’t do this, I may be forced to give you an “F” in the class. This will appear on your permanent transcript.
WHAT IS A “W”? A “W” appears on your transcript as an attempt to take a class. This is a permanent record that you tried to take this class. You may only attempt to take a class three times. If you already have one “W” for this class on your transcript, you can only attempt to take the class two more times. If you have two “W”s on your transcript, and you receive a “D” or “F” for the class, you have only one more chance to take the class.
CHEATING POLICY & PLAGIARISM
Cheating is considered academic dishonesty and will be handled either with no credit for the individual assignment or with exclusion from the class and/or an “F” grade for the course. Cheating includes using information or getting help from any outside source, such as other students, internet, books, etc. without citing the source. Any copying of material from other students or other uncited source will result in a penalty which may range from an “F” on the test/assignment up to and including exclusion and/or an “F” grade for the course. It is best to err on the side of citing. Know what you are doing! MLA formatting is the key.
