Week 13: Overview

Overview

At this point, you are well on your way to finishing up your final research projects.  Your individual research should be in place and ready to start finishing it up.

Keep adding to the document you created for your final research project. Review the instructions for the final research project and collaborate on drafting the content for your final project.

I expect all of you to contribute something to each section of the final assignment. You will need to plan out how you want to organize and coordinate your work. Although different members may "take the lead on specific sections," I want to see each member contribute to every section of the document. It is also in your best interest to do so because you want to ensure that your peers are submitting work that you agree with or approve. Remember, that the tone and voice of a group assignment should come across as one cohesive voice and not an amalgam of various voices, which can be jarring to your audience or reader and will distract from their ability to focus on the content of your work. Remember to draft your assignment in a neutral, objective tone, and do not use inflammatory language as a crutch to get your voice across.

Remember that you will also submit an individual portion of the project, where you will be able to assess your contributions and those of your group mates. It behooves you to be honest in this personal reflection. You're not "taking away" from a classmate by being honest about their contributions. (Honestly, I can see a lot from the discussions posted anyway.)  How well you do on the first portion of the assignment depends on the degree and depth of each person's contribution, so your grade is impacted when you assess the group's work honestly. Often -- but not always -- each member of the group earns the same grade for the final project.

There are a variety of resources that have been included in this week's module to help you complete the final project.
